Our Story

Ben Lomond Lavender Farm is situated in the beautiful Wakatipu Valley, a short 10-minute drive from Queenstown or Arrowtown.

The Manners Wood family have owned the property since 1978, and Shane, who has a lifelong love of gardening and organics decided to plant a field of Lavender in 1998. Since then, the lavender farm & garden has doubled in size, offering guests a tranquil setting amongst Queenstown’s mountain ranges to enjoy Lavender and the seasonal gardens the homestead has to offer.

We also host small events and wedding ceremonies on site.

Experience our Lavender Farm

Wander through blooming rows of lavender and beautifully maintained display gardens, set against the stunning backdrop of Queenstown’s mountain ranges. During your visit, you can enjoy the sights, scents, and serenity of our boutique lavender farm – and take a little piece of it home with you from our on-site gift shop.

Lavender thrives in Queenstown’s unique growing environment – with hot, dry summers, cold winters, free-draining soils, and an elevation of 1,000 feet above sea level – all of which create ideal conditions for producing the highest quality essential oil.

We grow two oil-producing varieties – Lavandula angustifolia and Lavandula x intermedia – organically, and distil them on site shortly after harvest. This allows us to produce premium organic oils, which we blend into our own unique product range, available for purchase in our farm shop.

Opening Months: We are open to the public by appointment only, from mid-October through to April.

Please note: We do not have a café or farm animals on site, as our focus is on the gardens, the lavender, and the peaceful setting we love to share.

  • As we have two varieties on the property, flowering is staggered and can vary depending on the weather.

Typically flowering begins in mid-December and continues through to the end of March, with peak blooming occurring in January and February.
